Well after a lot of work on this bus from Apryl and her father a few years back the bus was sent off to a bodyshop to be completed, sadly the sum total of a couple of years and several hundred pouns was loads of surface rust and bucketloads of filler making the bus panels resemble a boat caught in a storm.

After a lot of work Ive almost got first panel resembling a straight bus

Oh how I love sanding and filling!!!!

Pressed on with this one a fair bit sorting out many little foibles.

came in over filled and wavy as anything so have had to sand it back a lot and also take a lot of filler out and correct various bits of bodywork. sadly most of the joints had been removed or damaged during previous restorations so it was decided to deseam this one so any remaining seams were made good and then rods welded in and then glassed up to stop movememnt and then filled. Hopefully this will reduce any splitting out which ususally occurs when this is done. Will also use plastic in paints to make it more flexible.

as you can see bottom is kippered

Amazingly came with a lovely old Veng inner these are much longer than the ones you can get now which means you are actually able to fold skin over them which is always a bomus and gives a great finish

Next moved on to cab area and cleaning that all up from layers of paint and glue and underseal and just about any other thing which cuold have been thrown at it over the years

Image

etched up

Image

Image

Next in was reaplacement seat mounts as once is bus had been cut up and Apryl was returning to stock seats

Image

Image

All cleaned up and zinced

Image

and installed

Image

Next up was to replace the weather strips where the under seat rubber folds into, many buses lose these when steps go in yet they are vital to both keep out water and to keep mats in place to stop them ripping.

Image

Basically cut a long strip of metal then joggle a lip in the entire length and weld in.

Heres something I would say almost none of you would have seen before, on burning off the paint in the cab area i found this etching on passenger seat back its the initial EN which is underlined, this is a port detination for export in this case being England.
