i love the fact that you did what most people want to do in there campers straight away...neee messing about, get a camper...learn how to change gears...head off to europe

Even having to come back home to get the carbs sorted didnt stop you, i`m sure when they said `take it for a test run` they didnt mean drive it to europe hahahaha

Love it

Once you can find all 4 gears it's time to find a map I recon.

The boys in the garage were a bit surprised at the length of the test drive after they cleaned the carbs, "take that for a drive and see what you think". Returned over a week later with a beard, a fly splattered van and another 2 stamps in the passport, "Yep that seems fine, thanks".

Quality ride out.

I want to do a tour of Scotland and another run over to Holland before we get rid of the van next year.

Why you getting rid?? Looks like a great trip. Were the ferries expensive? I looked into going over to Ireland in the beetle last year but was really expensive.

In total we spent around £1200 in ferries, but didn't manage to catch them all.

They are expensive, especially if you just turn up and see if there is space left.

Prebook for better deals, use the caravan club if you can for more discount. However if you miss the ferry you lose the money.

You can pay even more to give you the opportunity to change the booking last minute. This however gets very expensive.

Swings and round abouts to prebooking or just turning up. .
